Editing...

I know I promised to write something on stories. I am still planning to to get something online on the subject (as well as write on a whole load of other topics that I’ve been noting down), but I’ve been working on other things for the last week, in particular rewriting my novel for a publisher who has expressed an interest in the book. The publishing house wants to see a new version of the typescript by the 1st of May, and soon after that they will make a final decision: yes, or no…
As I’ve got a fairly tight deadline, this has been taking up most of my time, and I’ve been neglecting not only thinkBuddha, but also my girlfriend, Bodhicattva the thinkBuddha cat, the garden and my friends and family. My plan is to get a draft printed out by the end of this week. Then next week I’m off to Marsden in Yorkshire to do some final tweaks to the book, to iron out some typos and so on.
By the time of my return, I should be able to print out the book and send it off, and then I can turn my attention to a week’s Zen meditation retreat that I have booked with Stephen and Martine Batchelor down at Gaia House, which is about as good a way to spend a week recovering from feverish weeks of editing as I can think of.
They are probably very high-tech in Marsden. If so, I’ll emerge from my self-imposed isolation, find somewhere to access the internet and post a few updates to thinkBuddha. If not, I’ll report back on my return, before I head down to the South-West for a week.
