That's Dr. thinkBuddha to You...

O, happy philosopher! Yesterday I had my viva examination up in Stoke-on-Trent, and I’m very happy to report that all went well, and that after a brisk hour and a quarter of fielding some fairly tricky questions from my two examiners, Jonathan Rée and Barry Taylor, my philosophy PhD thesis (called Naive Phenomenology: Thinking Ethics Through Stories) was passed. As a consequence, much celebration was had last night.
My immediate plans with the thesis are to leave it on one side over the summer whilst I’m away researching the next novel, and then to come back to it in the autumn with a fresh look to see if anything can be salvaged for possible publication. I suspect that, freed from the constraints of thinking about it as a PhD, it might take on a rather different form in any future incarnation.
Huge congratulations from me too! I manage a phd programme, so I know how outstanding your thesis must have been to get such a short viva. A PhD thesis and a novel (which I loved) in the same year. Wow.
Congratulations. Am currently going through the process myself. Can’t wait until I can share similar news. Again congrats on such a wonderful accomplishment.
