Squirrels!

Squirrel

Thanks to my friend Owen, who – in response to my last post on the indifference of the universe – sent me a link to a nice XKCD cartoon about and nihilism, life in an indifferent universe, and squirrels.

The link is here.

This also, incidentally, gives me an excuse to post this charming picture from the fifteenth century of a squirrel on a bamboo stalk. Have a nice Sunday!

I find that xkcd is quite wise (in a twisted, humorous sort of way) :).

Might that be a red panda in the bamboo? It’s my interpretation of what they look like, and as red pandas do live in China, and eat bamboo, it made more sense than the squirrel concept. But I might be mistaken.

I do so enjoy reading, and I did very much enjoy the painting.

It might be a red panda – although there’s something squirrely in the little beast’s face, and quite a few kinds of squirrels live in China, apparently.
Either way, I agree it’s a lovely image.
