Bodhicattva

I should probably step back once more from all this heady stuff and introduce you to Bod, short for Bodhicattva, and the most recent addition to the thinkBuddha household.

We picked up Bod from the cat rescue place a couple of months ago, at which time he had a nasty wound on his shoulder (since healed) due to a dissolute youth street-fighting and walking the tiles. These days, he’s a more sedate character.

The name Bodhicattva, of course, is the feline equivalent of Bodhisattva, and within his limitations, he’s not doing too badly in living up to this name. He seems to be a fairly unwilling (or, more likely, inept) hunter, which is a relief. And last night whilst I was meditating, he came into the room, sat down on my lap and promptly fell asleep, a sitaution which pinned me to my cushions for rather longer than I was intending…

David Brazier recently posted about a bodhicattva in the house where he was staying. It’s a cat-filled year so far.

I hope your very nice feline friend, Bod, continues to sit with/on you and doesn’t get chased by any doggysattvas.

Beautiful Cat, reminds me of a black kitty I used to have many years ago: Moira Kay.

Cats are indeed good meditators no? Have fun, cats are lovely.
