Blogisattva Awards Announced!
Monday March 6, 2006

Last night was awards night, of course. No, I’m not talking about the Oscars, but about the Blogisattva Awards, the brainchild of Tom over at Zenunbound.
thinkBuddha was nominated for four awards – for “Best Achievement in Wonderful, Remarkable, Elegant Design” (steady on, the design around these parts is nice enough, but remarkable????), “Best Philosophical Blog”, “Best Achievement in Skilful Writing”, and “Blog of the Year”; and although Bodhicattva the thinkBuddha cat and I came home from the virtual award ceremony empty-handed (or empty-pawed in Bod’s case), we are still delighted to announce the list of winning blogs. Well done to all the folks who were nominated, awarded, or who simply read and write Buddhist-inflected blogs. Go and pay a visit to the proud winners below!

First off—let me get this straight—you object to calling your website design ‘remarkable’ while you are careful not to object to ‘wonderful’ and ‘elegant.’ Right!?
Your website design is very, very nice and could have been nommed in either of the Design categories. You know, one thing that is perhaps unique about your blog is that I get a comments count in my RSS aggregator with each of your posts that gets updated. That is very cool; lets me know when something has been added to a discussion.
And let us face it your site has just the right furniture and colors and flourishes on its fonts and spacing and gnarly treetop. WHAT’S NOT TO LOVE!?
Sorry that you didn’t win anything, Will. No ceremony in the Winners’ Circle; no kiss from a gorgeous blonde; no cork popped from a bottle of alcohol-free Cold Duck; no check with lots of digits on it; no handshake from the King of Sweden or from a chappy who used to head a country high up on a plateau.
But it was determined that four nominations was as much as we felt you could handle, so we prefunctorily denied you any more glory and crossed off your blog with a big black Magic Marker.
I think something similar happened to another Will from your part of the Globe, many, many years ago. Nommed for Best Tragedy; Best Comedy; Best Play with Fairies; and Best Play with Lots and Lots of Bloodletting—and he, too, was O for 4. But he turned out all right. You may have heard about him. That’s right: Will Magilacutty!! No, that’s not it. His last name was a lot like Buddha’s clan name. Oh, I can’t think of it and no use crying over spilled milk and a rose by any other name would smell as sweet, anyway.
So save the banner and the party favors and the cat’s pom-pom. There is more glory ahead for you; heaps of it; so much, you’ll be dazzled so much that when you die, the bouncers will have to keep from letting you in to Paranirvana.
You didn’t tell me there was going to be a kiss from a gorgeous blonde, Tom… Now I really am disappointed…
:-)
Oi!
